Waynesburg Sheep & Fiber Fest Fun!

Customers At Michelle's Assortment & Kim Goodman's Punch Needle Design
It seemed that the crowds picked up on Sunday after the rain threatened all day Saturday.  The festival only got about 15 minutes of rain on Saturday!  Not so for the rest of Western PA, but the folks on Sunday said, "enough" and came carrying umbrellas just in case ...  :)
See The Little Sheep In The Middle & In The Sheep Bowl?
It seems that no one can resist touching the yarn from the unique Annadele Alpacas booth set-up running down the center aisle of the building!

River Ridge Fiberworks has fantastic handspun yarns, felted flowers & purses, sock yarn, and their famous, great smelling "Mothzilla" sachets, but take a look at these great glass window hangings & mirrors!
River Ridge Fiberworks - Wow!
We had several vendors spinning, felting, rug hooking, pottery decorating, & treenware carving during the festival ...

Finally, we have pictures of our fantastic Vendor Booth Award winners.  Vendors are "secretly" judged during the festival by a couple of young adults in 4-H or perhaps a mother/daughter pair who visit each booth.  Booths are judged on signage, visibility of pricing, product display, and ability of the vendor to relate to the public and describe their product or craft.  And the winners are:

There were lots of activities going on outside - sheep & alpaca shearing, a fleece to shawl contest and auction, chefs cooking lamb dishes, sheep dog herding, and music ...
Here are more vendor pictures and some of the people in the buildings watching and having fun ...

At 2014 Waynesburg Sheep & Fiber Fest!

Saturday was a great day at the Waynesburg Sheep & Fiber Fest.  It was cool and windy, but the rain held off all day ... yarn & wool buying weather, as I say!   Come visit today if you're in the area ...
Here are a few pics!

The Washington Wild Things mascot visited the festival and vamped with the crowd.  I told him that he needed to "refresh" his locks and he was in the right place for it!  ;)

2013 Waynesburg Sheep & Fiber Fest Is Coming!

2012 Waynesburg Sheep & Fiber Festival Shoppers!
Well, sheep & fiber friends, it's time to start thinking about our 10th Anniversary Waynesburg Sheep & Fiber Festival!  This year it will be held on May 18th & 19th at  the Greene County Fairgrounds in Waynesburg, PA.  We have a great variety of over 40 juried vendors signed up so far this year.   There is still time to enter the photography contest and the fiber arts contest - check the WS&FF web-site for applications.
Here are a few more pictures from 2012 to get everyone in mood!  As usual, there will be chef demos, lamb recipe sampling, sheep shearing demos, the Breed Pavillion, and kids activities.  A recent feature story in Lancaster Farming by Laura Zoeller provides a nice background on the festival & how it got started.
