In Other News ...

Dusk Cell Phone Pic Of Nothing Happening!
We moved the ewes last night so that they are now grazing close to the barn. The waiting continues at Wild Rose Farm ... nothing as of this morning.
Yesterday our Waynesburg Sheep & Fiber Festival committee had our "walk-thru" meeting at the fairgrounds. Building #8 has been renovated & expanded, so that called for me to whip out the 100' tape measure and get updated dimensions. Next comes a new booth layout map ... the fun never ends!
Lena With Felted Flower Purse From 2015 WS&FF
The building looks so empty without the vendors, but Lena from Lippencott Alpacas decided to show off a felted flower purse that she got last year from long time returning vendor River Ridge Fiberworks. That's the 2016 festival t-shirt tucked under her arm ... sneak preview below:

The featured art sheep are Katahdins from one of the Breed Pavilion flocks at their home farm.  We're less than a month away from the festival now!

Waynesburg Sheep & Fiber Fest Fun!

Customers At Michelle's Assortment & Kim Goodman's Punch Needle Design
It seemed that the crowds picked up on Sunday after the rain threatened all day Saturday.  The festival only got about 15 minutes of rain on Saturday!  Not so for the rest of Western PA, but the folks on Sunday said, "enough" and came carrying umbrellas just in case ...  :)

It seems that no one can resist touching the yarn from the unique Annadele Alpacas booth set-up running down the center aisle of the building!

River Ridge Fiberworks has fantastic handspun yarns, felted flowers & purses, sock yarn, and their famous, great smelling "Mothzilla" sachets, but take a look at these great glass window hangings & mirrors!
River Ridge Fiberworks - Wow!
We had several vendors spinning, felting, rug hooking, pottery decorating, & treenware carving during the festival ...

Finally, we have pictures of our fantastic Vendor Booth Award winners.  Vendors are "secretly" judged during the festival by a couple of young adults in 4-H or perhaps a mother/daughter pair who visit each booth.  Booths are judged on signage, visibility of pricing, product display, and ability of the vendor to relate to the public and describe their product or craft.  And the winners are:

And the WINNERS ARE ........

At this year's 7th Annual Waynesburg Sheep and Fiber Festival , we had all kinds of great vendor booths.  There were fiber show veterans and several vendors on their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd show.  We all know how it is just starting out and we like to encourage artists who have really good hand crafted specialties.  During the weekend, we have an anonymous judge or two circulating through the festival.  They look at the booths for things such as signage, clear pricing, & product display.  They also engage the vendors by asking questions, etc. and judge their ability to relate to the public about their fiber, art, or craft.  With so many fantastic vendors, it's hard too pick just one, so we pick two!   "BEST FIBER VENDOR" and "BEST NON-FIBER VENDOR".   Blue ribbons and 2010 crocks to our happy winners ....   Thank you to all of our vendors for a great show and the positive feedback that you gave to the festival!
Best Fiber Vendor ----- River Ridge Fiberworks <-- Check out their sign!
Best Non-Fiber Vendor ----- Tatting By Tabitha <-- Exquisite work & demos at the festival!
